The Summer Gunner, For the third year Jamie reason will be presenting his program "The Summer Gunner" at the William Floyd Estate part of the National Park Service's Fire Island National Seashore. In Historic Mastic Beach Long Island.

This well received presentation encompasses the artist practicing traditional shorebird decoy carving in period reproduction clothing of a Long Island carver from the early twentieth century. As he carves decoys he spins a narrative of the history of the manufacture and use of hunting decoys in America and especially on Long Island and particularly at the historic Floyd Estate where game provided sustenance for the Floyd family from it's very beginning in1724 and as it later served as a summer home and gunning retreat from the 1870's till then end of the family's tenure in the last quarter of the 20th century.

Spend some time at the beautiful 613 acre estate of a signer of the Declaration Of Independence " Long Island's Monticello"
